WEATHER BEAT: Warm Temps Continue with the Chance for Showers and Storms Each Day

Posted

weatherbeatlogoI think its safe to say that we can finally put the ice scraper in the attack for a while. So far this May, we have already seen five days of temperatures at or above 80 degrees, and there’s more where that came from.

Projected highs for the next four days will likely be in the mid-80s with temperatures soaring to as high as 90 degrees by next Tuesday. The good news for people who don’t like the heat so much is that a cooling trend is on the way. I’m not expecting a crazy cool down, but highs in the 70s should feel quite comfortable.

The next couple days each feature a chance for showers and storms, with the greatest threat for storms being next Monday and Tuesday. A cold front Tuesday is what will give us highs only in the 70s Wednesday through Friday of next week.

This weekend, I expect to see spotty showers, which is associated with an area of low pressure off the southeast coast. This storm currently has an 80% chance for further development. It could become our first Tropical Storm or Subtropical Storm. If that becomes the case, it would be named Ana.

Get out and enjoy the warm temperatures and don’t forget to pack your umbrella.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.
