03242016-169Local police are continuing to be vigilant of those participating in the Pokémon Go phenomenon. Haymarket police have asked residents to be mindful of all laws and not to trespass while playing the game. The Prince William County Police Department made a similar statement July 12. We will keep an eye on stops as a safety measure, not an enforcement effort.  Although stops have been popular in Haymarket, we have not received any complaints reference trespassing or other violations associated with Pokemon Go.
"At the Haymarket Police Department our number 1 goal is keeping the public safe," a spokesperson said. "The officers know about and will be patrolling each 'PokeStop."
Police list the following locations as PokeStops inside and outside of the town limits:
  • Pickle Bobs ice cream shop
  • The Haymarket Museum
  • Haymarket Baptist Church
  • "Poke-Gym"
  • St. Paul Church
  • El Vaquero west Mexican restaurant
  • Greenhill Crossing Gazaebo
  • Greenhill crossing Tennis Courts
  • Haymarket post office
"We will keep an eye on stops as a safety measure, not an enforcement effort," Chielf Eric Noble said. "Although stops have been popular in Haymarket, we have not received any complaints reference trespassing or other violations associated with Pokémon Go."
