Residents should expect delays Sunday, Sept. 25 from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the county's inaugural Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Half Marathon in west end of the county.
Prince William County Police issued a traffic advisory for detours in place to accommodate the race; the following roads will be affected:
• Route 29 between Heathcote Boulevard and Route 234
• University Boulevard between Wellington Road and Route 29
• Wellington Road between Limestone Drive and David Williams Way
Route 29 motorists will be detoured via Heathcote Boulevard, Catharpin Road and Route 234 back to Route 29; Wellington Road motorists will be detoured via Limestone Drive, Linton Hall Road (Route 619) and Devlin Road back to Wellington Road.
"Detour signs and message boards will be in place," police said. "Prince William County Motor units will be on hand to direct traffic."
The race, organized by Fun Run Racing, will start at Jiffy Lube Live.
A separate 5k race to benefit Cody's Crew will cause traffic delays in the area of Manassas Drive this morning beginning at 9 a.m.
