policecrusierclosePrince William County Police responded Tuesday to a burglary in progress at a residence located in the 9700 block of Upper Mill Loop in Bristow.

This is the second area burglary that was interrupted this week. On Monday an individual attempted to break into a Gainesville home, but was scared off by the scream of the homeowner.

According to the homeowners, who were home at the time of the incident, an unknown individual entered the home through the rear basement door around 5:28 a.m. March 17.

"The suspect was observed fleeing the area prior to police arriving at the home," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok. "It appears movement in the house may have startled the intruder."

Perok said there were no signs of forced entry into the residence; miscellaneous property was reported missing.
