HD-car-door-1-300x195The Haymarket Police arrested a woman July 29 at 11:55 p.m. on multiple charges following a DUI stop, when officers discovered her 3-year-old daughter in the car.

According to police, they stopped the woman for a speeding violation in the 15000 block of Washington Street.

"On approach, the officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage from the driver," Haymarket Police Chief Eric Noble said.

After performing a series of standardized field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence and for unreasonably refusing a breath/blood test.

"She was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor based on the fact that her 3-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with her," Noble said. "Subsequent to the arrest, the daughter was turned over to her father."

Police did not release the name of the suspect or court information.

This is the second DUI arrest in a week, where Haymarket Police arrested an individual for driving intoxicated with a minor in the car.
