Bristow’s Peri Peri Original X Kallisto Steakhouse in Braemar Plaza mixes casual dining with quality food. It is two restaurants in one that share a franchise, a space and a commitment to excellence. All the food is Halal prepared, making it inclusive to a greater portion of the community. Plus, Peri Peri Original X Kallisto Steakhouse uses only fresh ingredients.
“One of the main differences between us and other casual restaurants is we make our food once it is ordered,” said Rizwan Ishaq, owner of the Bristow location. “It is all freshly cooked food,”
Peri Peri Original serves a selection of Brazilian-inspired dishes; slow-flame grilled chicken is its specialty. Diners can select the Peri Peri chicken prepared mild, hot or extra hot. Other flavors include mango & lime, and lemon & herb.
The “secret recipe” makes the difference, Ishaq explained. “It is definitely flavorful and people like it.”
Ishaq opened the restaurnts one year ago. It was important to Ishaq that his restaurants have a diverse menu. Peri Peri Original has a wide variety of salads, wraps, sandwiches, rice dishes, burgers and street-style tacos. Dishes include chicken, steak, beef or vegetables.
For a treat, Peri Peri Original has mock cocktails and milkshakes in a variety of flavors, a big hit with children. And people do not have to choose to order from just one restaurant; they can mix and match, because Kallisto Steakhouse is in the same venue.
Kallisto Steakhouse offers serves a traditional steakhouse menu in a casual dining atmosphere. Kallisto offers five premium steak cuts: ribeye, top sirloin, New York strip and T-bone with a choice of a traditional sides, plus cheesesteak sandwiches.
Many of Ishaq’s patrons have never visit steakhouses due to dietary limitations, so it was very exciting when Kallisto Steakhouse opened. Others have dined at one of their other Northern Virginia locations, including the original restaurant in Herndon.
Rizwan Ishaq and his wife were born and raised in Pakistan and moved to D.C. and Northern Virginia to work as professionals. However, they had family already working in the food industry in Bristow, who noticed Bristow lacked Halal restaurants.
Ishaq decided to open the kind of restaurant the community really wanted. He chose more American-style food because people who practice Halal are often limited to middle eastern restaurants.
They also want to serve the entire community. Thus far, they have partnered with Patriot High School, Bristow Run Elementary School and Linton Hall School to raise funds for school organizations. They would like to do more.
Ishaq invites everyone to dine Peri Peri Original X Kallisto Steakhouse. He believes the quality of food and service speaks for itself and is the “best advertisement.” Once people try it, so how could they not return?
