Attempted Abduction - The Manassas City Police Department is investigating an attempted abduction that occurred on Sunday, June 7, at 9501 Dean Park Lane.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., a mother reported that two unknown males approached her 4-year-old daughter and attempted to lure her away with candy. The child's 6-year-old sister witnessed the interaction and immediately began screaming for her mother.
Upon hearing this, both males fled.
The mother quickly gathered her children and moved toward the park entrance, where she received assistance from an off-duty Prince William County Police Officer.
The suspects were described as two males: one wearing all black and a full-face mask, the second, wearing all white.
Responding officers subsequently located the man matching the description of the individual dressed in black who wore a full-face mask and a black hoodie displaying a white logo on the back. However, when officers attempted to make contact, the individual fled on an electric bicycle via Winter's Branch Trail.
According to reports, the two men were present in the area of the soccer fields both before and after the reported incident.
At this time, no additional descriptive information is available regarding either suspect. (A still image captured from an officer's body-worn camera is included.)
