An emergency helicopter transported a Patriot High School student to an area hospital, this morning after an automobile struck the pedestrian at 14000 Sudley Manor Drive, the entrance to Marsteller Middle School.

The young person was presumably on their way to the high school. As a result of that accident and a subsequent vehicle accident, Prince William Police blocked off parts of Sudley Manor Drive.

The pedestrian accident occurred before Marsteller's arrival time.

According to Prince William Scanner Feed, Prince William Fire & Rescue and Police immediately responded to the accident. Police blocked the intersection while EMTs attended to the pedestrian until the helicopter arrived.

Soon after, another crash on the northbound side of Sudley Manor occurred that involved two vehicles. Fire and Rescue personnel, already on the scene, called in more officers to attend to that accident. Then, officers temporarily closed the road except for one lane.

According to a witness, the second accident was likely a result of confusion over how to navigate the intersection.

Sudley Manor Drive was reopened around 8:30 a.m.

Patriot High School Principal Dr Michael Bishop sent a message informing Patriot parents that the injured pedestrian was a Patriot student. Additionally, several Patriot students witnessed the accident. Bishop said the school counseling team will be available for those students.

Meanwhile, Prince William County Schools rerouted buses headed to Marsteller Middle School for morning drop-off. Those students were taken to Patriot High School, where they were given breakfast in the cafeteria.

PWCS told parents not to pick up their children.

“Once buses finish their elementary school bus routes, they will return to Patriot to take students to Marsteller,” the text message read. “You do not need to pick up your child. They are safe, and we plan to transport them back to Marsteller as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Marsteller students have now been returned to their school.

Commenters on Prince William County Scanner Feed said it could be a dangerous intersection in the morning. While crossing guards are stationed there during Masteller’s arrival and dismissal hours, high school students often cross the road on their way to school. This is not to say those students do not have the option of taking the bus to school
