Prince William Officers responded to Lake Manassas located at 9030 Burwell Road in Nokesville to investigate a drowning, June 23 at 4:46 p.m.
The investigation revealed a 45-year-old man, and a family member were swimming in the lake when he appeared to struggle before submerging in the water.
Fire and rescue located and removed the man from the water where he was pronounced dead. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and determination of cause of death. At this time, there is no foul play concerning the death. The investigation continues.
Police have not yet released the name of the deceased.
Swimming is prohibited in Lake Manassas.
