HAYMARKET, VA — The local art scene just got a vibrant upgrade. On March 14, 2026, Arts VanGo officially opened the doors to its first permanent home, The Studio, located in Haymarket’s historic original one-room schoolhouse.

Founded in 2022 by Dawn Quill, Arts VanGo began with a simple but powerful mission: to make high-quality art education accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability. After years of providing mobile art experiences, Quill realized the community needed a dedicated space for "process-based" art—where the joy of creating is just as important as the final masterpiece.

“Art allows us all to speak the same language,” said Quill. “We wanted to create a welcoming environment where the local community can explore, create, and connect outside of a formal school setting.”

Something for Every Artist

The new studio at 15025 Washington St. offers a diverse schedule of classes designed to meet artists exactly where they are:

  • Mini & Me (Ages 1–2): Early art exposure for toddlers that helps caregivers "create their village" through social creating.
  • Little Artist Workshops (Ages 3–5): Caregiver-assisted sessions that turn storytime into visual art.
  • After School & Saturday Classes: Opportunities for grades K–12 to explore the worlds of art and STEAM.
  • Adaptive Art Studio: Specialized classes for artists ages 16+ with cognitive disabilities, focusing on creative choice and personalized support.
  • Community & Open Studio: Relaxed, pop-in activities and free open studio sessions where neighbors of all ages can work on projects together.

As the school year winds down, Arts VanGo is gearing up for its 2026 Summer Camps. These week-long intensives allow young creators to dive deep into specific themes, fostering grit and a growth mindset through hands-on making. Whether your child is an aspiring "Raft Master" or a future gallery painter, these camps provide a productive, safe, and wildly creative summer outlet.
