Supervisor Boddye Invites Residents to Town Halls on Surveillance Tech and Transportation

Forums on surveillance technology and road improvements to be held Oct. 21 and 22

Posted

Woodbridge, Va. — Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny Boddye-D invites Prince William residents to two key community town halls next week. First up is a discussion on the use of surveillance technology in public safety on Oct. 21, followed the next day by updates on two of the district’s main transportation corridors: Old Bridge and Minnieville roads, Oct. 22.

The Surveillance Technology Town Hall, organized in cooperation with Potomac District Supervisor Andrea Bailey-D, is a virtual "town hall" on the use of surveillance technologies, like Flock cameras and drones, in public safety. Panelists will include Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy, representatives from the Prince William County Police Department, and ACLU of Virginia.

Residents are invited to learn about use cases for these technologies, voice their perspectives, ask questions, and help inform future decisions. Register here.

The in-person town hall, scheduled for Oct. 22, is more focused on the Occoquan District, and will discuss road projects such as the Old Bridge Road/Minnieville Road Intersection Study, Old Bridge Corridor Improvement Projects and neighborhood traffic-calming efforts.

"Whether we're talking about the use of new technologies or longstanding transportation questions, residents deserve a voice in the decisions that shape our community," said Boddye. "These forums are opportunities to get informed, ask questions, share perspectives, and help us make better decisions. I encourage all of my constituents to participate."

“We want to make sure everyone has a seat at the table,” said Boddye. “These meetings bring neighbors together with local decision-makers to ensure our residents have a voice in the future of our community. That input is essential to building a safer, stronger and more connected Prince William County.”
