Train Collides with Truck on Bristow Road

Serious Crash Investigation – Officers responded to the area of Milford Road and Bristow Road in Bristow (20136) to investigate a crash involving a train striking a vehicle, April 15 at 9:21 a.m. 

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2019 Ford F350, identified as a 54-year-old man, was driving westbound on Milford Drive when the vehicle crossed over a private train crossing and was struck by a southbound Amtrak passenger train.

The truck was hauling a trailer at the time of the collision, which separated from the vehicle. The truck came to rest on its side, where the driver was subsequently extricated by Fire & Rescue services and treated at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported. The crossing on Milford Road is private and has posted stop signs and warnings. The crossing is not equipped with lowering arms. The train was estimated to have been traveling approximately 74 MPH at the time of the collision. The conductor sounded the train’s horn prior to the crossing and stopped approximately .5-.75 miles from the crash location. Charges are pending.
