Prince William County detectives have charged two individuals in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Luis Angel Chavez, of Manassas, that occurred in the area of Peppertree Lane and Pebble Lane in Manassas on June 15.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained charges for both individuals. Markiss Alexander Medrano and a 16-year-old boy, a juvenile, were arrested. The investigation continues.
Arrests:
Markiss Alexander Medrano, 18, of Manassas, was arrested on June 25. He has been charged with 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. His court date is pending. He is being held without bond.
The other suspect, a 16-year-old male of Manassas, also arrested on June 25, has been charged with 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. His court date is pending. He is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released]- On June 15 at 9:57 p.m., officers responded to the area of Old Centreville Road and Parkland Street in Manassas (20111) to investigate a report of shots fired.
During the initial investigation, officers determined a shooting occurred in the nearby Bull Run Mobile Home Community, in the area of Peppertree Lane and Pebble Lane.
The investigation revealed the victim, an 18-year-old man, was in the area when he was shot in the upper body.
Following the encounter, the victim attempted to leave the area and collapsed in the backyard of a nearby residence on Parrish Lane.
Officers located the victim, attempted life-saving measures, and ultimately, the victim was pronounced dead on scene.
The suspects left the area and were not immediately located.
Additionally, during the investigation, a residence located in the 7400 block of Peppertree Lane was found to be struck by gunfire.
Preliminarily, this incident does not appear to be random. Detectives are asking anyone with any information, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact police. Additional information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
