House of Mercy Holds 2024 Back to School Program: Supply Drive

School supply drive will support local students

Local nonprofit House of Mercy is excited to announce the return of its Back to School Program, which is dedicated to providing essential school supplies to local children whose families are facing financial insecurities.

“This year, we aim to support over 600 children, equipping them with new backpacks, shoes, clothes and school supplies,” said Claudia Gamez, marketing director for House of Mercy.

Needed items include backpacks, pencils, pens, lined paper, crayons, markers, erasers, glue, folders and more. Community members can participate by donating items through their Target Registry. They can also drop off items at the food pantry.

The drive is ongoing until July 27, but the nonprofit may accept late donations.

House of Mercy is a charitable nonprofit, located in Manassas, that runs a food pantry and thrift shop.  House of Mercy accepts donations of gently used clothing (for all ages), household goods, jewelry, electronics and furniture, all year.

The nonprofit keeps its thrift store prices low, making items affordable to their families. Money made is donated back to the food pantry and organization. They sell more high-value items online.

Even with more space available, the need continues to grow, which is why donations are so appreciated. Monetary donations help feed families.

House of Mercy is a Catholic-based charity that helps all families regardless of religious affiliation.
