Prince William Fire & Rescue Responds to Haymarket House Explosion

Prince William Fire and Rescue Units were dispatched to the 5900 block of Coby Hunt Court in Haymarket, on Tuesday, Oct. 15,  at 4:17 p.m., for a reported outside gas leak.

At approximately 5:36 p.m. the unit on the scene messaged the home had exploded.

The home had been evacuated earlier by the unit on the scene.

Initial reports are of an underground contractor striking a natural gas line. It is unknown at this time what led to the explosion.

No injuries have been reported. Units remained on the scene completing extinguishment and overhaul.

The gas company is on the scene to secure the leak. There is no further danger to the community. More details will be provided as they become available.
