“The first event last June was wildly successful!” co-director Jason Shaw said. “It was a true communal event, which brought together local comic shops, comic dealers, and collectors from all across the region.”
Pints & Panels is not a traditional comic book show, rather it is an expanded community-focused event that grew out of the successful swap meets that the group has been holding for years.
“These events keep evolving as participation grows,” Shaw said. “We’re hopeful that our Nov. 3 event will outpace the last one, as more members find opportunities to obtain comics that they have long been seeking.”
No matter how large the event becomes, Shaw reassures members that Pints & Panels will be a showcase for local comic shops. Once again the event will feature local comic shops that have supported the comic collecting community.

At the Pints & Panels event, there will be both a swap meet area and a dealer area, where comic books will be offered for sale. Shaw explained that there will be no costs for dealers to set up and sell at the event. Members can also purchase beer from Tin Cannon to enjoy while they conduct business.
While the event is planned for DMV Comic Collectors members, the administrators encourage local residents to attend.
“DMV Comic Collectors continues to grow into a thriving community,” Shaw said. “We offer our members resources and opportunities to discuss this wonderful hobby.”
Tin Cannon Brewing is a craft brewery located in Gainesville, VA. For nearly 10 years, they have brewed their beers onsite and served them in their taproom, which customers describe as having a Cheers vibe.
