On Sept. 27, 2023, at approximately 4:38 p.m., Virginia State Police was investigating a two-vehicle crash that had occurred in the northbound lanes of I-95 at the 155-mile marker in Prince William County. A VDOT Safety Services Patrol vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder, with its emergency lights activated, when a sedan ran off the right side of the interstate and struck the rear of the SSP truck. No injuries were reported.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
